I’ve always had a love for origami. I’ve made a few basic objects before and love giving it as a present. If I think about it origami for me was always a kid thing. It holds the wonders of a child. It is simplicity, creative and was inspired by nature.
Well this talk presented origami in all it’s splendar. I really had no idea just how far origami had advanced and the contributions it makes in solving scientific problems. Very cool.
This site is great (www.langorigami.com) because it pays attention to both disciplines of origami, the artistic side and the scientific side. You’ll understand more after you watch the talk but for those on the science side there is a lot of explanation and the extra ordinary contribution is Robert’s computational works he gives out free for your own origami desires.
I ventured out on my bicycle last Friday to the über hip and soon to be “Condoburg” of North Williamsburg to actually log all the web site URLs I could of the developments. I was doing this for research since many of my new web clients are in the real estate business. Well, to my surprise I was distracted from all the construction when I heard a loud drumming noise on Kent street. “Do they have concerts in this Park or has a hippie convention taken over before the condos do?” I wondered.
So, I ventured into East River State Park and came across the rehearsal for Boredoms’ 88Boadrum. I stopped to listen, take photos and enjoy the music, sun and views along the river. When they wrapped I found two friends of mine were on the drum kits! I said hello to artist/musician Frank Haines and musician John Lockie of the band Sightings.
The concept was done last year by the Boredoms on 7/7/07 and this 8/8/08 they are returning to it. The band is in the middle of three rings of drummers totaling 88, each with basic kits. I took photos and the following video. I love the unison of the drummers. As I pan across, watch for the man on the stage in the back right corner. He has a large stick which he uses to direct all the drummers for accents.
I think the world of my friend Dr. John Balsamo. He is a unique individual and makes a difference in this world with his actions. He supports his friends and those in the neighborhood or on another continent. He is mind, body and spirit conscious and applies this in his chiropractic practice Life is Beautiful. It my pleasure to share this video about Dr. John Balsamo, my chiropractor.
I’m pretty sure it did but you be the judge.
Taken while a big storm was rolling in. I’ve been waiting for the cold air behind it for some time now. Sleeping with the windows open for a change, enjoying the coolness but for how much this storm took up the conversation in the news, it wasn’t much rain here in WIlliamsburg, Brooklyn.
